SSO Terms of Use

Students Speak Out was created by the Citizens League as a place for constructive dialogue between students and adults about school and education. You can discuss education-related issues you are passionate about, experiences you have, your ideas about causes and consequences of policies and problems, and your ideas for solutions. We hope citizens will begin to build a common ground to improve the common good. We encourage you to post and talk about what’s on your mind. But we’re also aware that poor etiquette can spoil the progress.

Registration to Students Speak Out is free! We do insist that you abide by the terms of use detailed below so you can help us keep the site safe and clean. Failing to do so is grounds for us to remove your posts and/or kick you off the site.

By using the Students Speak Out community site, you warrant that you will not:

1. Share personal information. Seriously, no phone numbers, addresses, etc. in forums, email, comments, or anywhere else on the site. It’s a good idea to use your first name only, and to only accept someone as a friend if you really know who they are. We encourage you to visit Xanga’s Safety Portal for tips about how to participate safely on a social networking site. We also encourage you to familiarize yourself with the Ning Platform’s Privacy Policy.
2. Disrupt the purpose of the site by posting, transmitting, promoting, facilitating or distributing any messages, videos, or images that are untrue, illegal, harmful, harassing, abusive, racially, ethnically, or religiously offensive, obscene, vulgar or pornographic, violently graphic, sexually-oriented or explicit, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violate any laws. If you are not sure about something that you want to say or do, ask an adult, friend, and/or relative first. Do not post anything your parents, principal, or a predator should not see.
3. Harass or threaten anyone on the site. No spamming, cyberstalking, or sending unwarranted messages.
4. Impersonate another registered member on the site, or anyone else.
5. Attempt to steal any passwords, harvest email addresses, or any other private information.
6. Post unsolicited ads and/or promotional material or any other forms of solicitation including but not limited to mail fraud and pyramid schemes.
7. Post your images of your friends without their permission.

The Citizens League reserves the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.

The Citizens League also reserves the right to reprint content from your posts (in most cases, we will include your registered name) on other parts of the site, or in presentations and papers designed to communicate student’s opinions. We want everyone to know what you’re communicating here!

Although the administrators and moderators of Students Speak Out will attempt to keep all objectionable messages, videos, and images off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the Citizens League, nor any of its partners, will be held responsible for the content of any message, video or image.
