Students Speak Out

Students Speak Out: Minnesota

There is an online forum where parents of students in Minneapolis Public Schools are debating the mertis of a bullying curriculum.

It's at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MPS_ParentsForum/

To see the discussion you will need to join the group. I'm curious what you all think of the notion of addressing bullying with a curriculum, and also what you think of the various aspects of the debate. Would be interesting for you guys to join the debate there and/or invite the parents to join in a discussion with you here (on SSO) about how bullying can best be addressed (from your perspective).

And here's another question while you're at it: Is an anti-bullying or anti-harassment policy enough? Or effecive at all?

I joined, but like how we talked about the clinic for SSO I need one for that group! I have no clue what I am doing. Any tips on where to go or how to be the most effective? c(=

Hi Brett,
From the home page there is a "start topic" link upper right just above the messages.

On the home page there is a blue box upper left under the MPS blue bar and in that box there is a "messages" link. When I click that link it brings me to the messages but I have to scroll down to the bottom for the most recent. I think they are on post #5243 by M Atherton:)

The thread about bullying is called Welcoming Schools. I would read those. Interesting.
Then there is a "start topic" link at the bottom too.

I think it's cool that you are on top of this. Re to one of those posts or just click start topic for an invite over to our site.
