I read this article concerning Obama's address to the country on his plan for education. He wants to do things like use merit pay for teachers, decrease the drop out rate, fund NCLB, increase the school day length and standards, also not support states who are trying to cap the amount of charter schools. What do you guys think about his approach, and do you think he is leaving anything out?
I'm really glad he's paying so much attention and putting so much energy to improving public education. I think he's doing a really good job of raising awareness...I mean, there is definitely more he could add to his plans, but there are lots of other areas that need attention besides education. I just really hope he follows through with his plans, and that he's willing to listen to suggestions from the people, in general. But I'm so happy with all the stuff he's done so far! :)
